I could use another week off. I'm so in holiday mode, but it's back to school tomorrow. We have 3 weeks of classes, one week of finals, and then 2 weeks off. I'm sure it will go by very quickly. And I'm teaching all of Gatsby in Amer. Lit in the next 3 weeks and all of The Inferno in world lit. So it will be busy, but interesting. Hopefully I won't ( Read more... )

I'm starting to feel the decompression of summer coming on. Last week was huge. Defended my dissertation proposal successfully in a 2 hour meeting on Tuesday. Relief to have that over with. My committee was encouraging, challenging, positive, and congratulatory. They're excited about my study, which makes me happy. And the good news is that I need ( Read more... )

It's finally spring around here. It was actually HOT yesterday. And today it's in the 80s again, but the sun is behind a cloud so it doesn't feel as hot as yesterday. t-minus 35 days and counting until I sit down with my committee to defend my prospectus beast (and only about 19 until I have to turn the thing in to my committee ahead of the defense).
