I think I've got it locked up, canker-blossom. Those other jobs are wide open though.

Good luck with the job apps! Sounds like another wicked excuse for me to come to Montreal if you get that Concordia gig! I'm sure you'd be awesome in any of them. Kick ass, Morphine!

is an "assitant" professorship easier to get than an assistant professorship?

It should be.

Delated reaction. Checking old blogs and lo & behold, you are here! Am so psyched to learn you're applying for faculty jobs. Just started a post-doc. We must compare notes. ~Kara (ps - I recognize a certain auntbeast amid these comments. Photo is tooooo cute).

Yeah, so cute you kind of want to pound her. Congrats on the post-doc. Does this mean you are done the dreaded dissertation (well, mine is dreaded. I don't speak for yours.)?!? Hurrah! Although that also sort of makes me want to pound you.

The job applications are just practice since I am still ABD and feeling very unprepared for the job market. There is an unprecedented number of jobs in my field in the Canadian market though, so I thought I might as well fail in the attempt. Luckily, the LCBO does not mind that I am ABD.

Maybe I'll see you over the holiday? Aunt Beast will be gracing us with her presence v. soon. Hope you're well and that we can compare notes soon.

I'm new at this blog world...just checked back and found your reply. Yes I'm done my thesis but no pounding allowed - I'm sure I started way before you. Defense is tentatively scheduled for early March.

Am also feeling totally unprepared for finding faculty jobs. Good strategy to get your materials together and start applying though. I will stay chicken for awhile longer.

Saw Aunt Beast for a quick drink last week, by now I'm sure you two have been logging some hours at the Totter pub. Hope you've having a great break. And good luck with the diss'n!!! xo Kara
