Cycling...

Since today was one of those "walk halfway home because the busses don't run to my place late enough" nights, I decided to pull out my bike and get to and from work on my own. That and I had read the flyers and found inexpensive foods at grocery stores ~5Km from home. Those that know me well know that when I see good foods that are inexpensive ( Read more... )

5 km is not too far on a bike, but that's farther than I'd care to walk carrying food. How far is too far for you on a bike? I tend not to bike where there are roads, so I my sense of distance might be a little off when dealing with city conditions. 30 km still sounds like a good workout, though - how are your knees doing?

Mmm grapes...

5 Km each way is easy for me. I've handled ~50Km in a day before and not felt it the next day...it all depends on the terrain, my conditioning and the weather. My knees like to hurt when weather changes from nice to rain (i.e. barometric pressure drops), so I tend to avoid biking around those times (that and I don't like my baby getting rained on...it's not good for it, especially when I don't have the time to give it a proper cleaning).

The 30 Km did a good number on me...I was pushing hard to get home at the end, but it still felt very rewarding to have done so much...I even debated biking in to work that Sunday and then again on Monday...I probably should have at least one of the two, as I doubt very much I'll want to take my bike out this Saturday for my close shift (and likely 4.5 Km walk home).

As for the grapes, they've suffered my wrath and tasted great...I just wish they were 1/2 price more often, and that I had bought more!
