“Te quiero,” she whispers.

She gives up the baby because her mother tells her to, because it’s the right thing to do, because good Catholic girls do things in a certain order.

Well, dude, that was brutal. Sharing the pain, eh? And a strange way of showing she loves him - except, of course, she's a teenage girl. So that completely makes sense...

And then I had to drop the kids off at their sitters'... So now you are probably asleep (or up and about).

But yes, I am quick!

God, Teresa is a bitch. She was the one who threw him out. There was no reason to tell him that she gave away his baby. ARGH!
Oh, shit, wait -- this is FICTION. Damn. I forgot.
LOL.
Sorry. Goofy mood today. (Goofier then usual - if possible)
Anyway, cute. In a mean spirited kind of way.
And is the woman holding the Ryan baby named Sandy? Huh, is she?

Goofy mood indeed, you deserve it after your crazy last few days!

Many thanks for the feedback. Did you feel just a little bit sorry for Theresa?

Feel for Teresa? Nope. Not at all. She hurt my boy. Bee-otch!

I almost feel sorry for Theresa, even though she appears to want to hurt Ryan. She's a confused and unprepared teenager lashing at the one person she knows she can. Ryan has been her friend for most of their lives and they have supported each other through difficult times (or so we imagine). I suspect that Theresa, while being cruel, doesn't really mean to be malicious.

Meanwhile - I'm still holding out hope. We don't really know who the baby daddy is and I'm still convinced that Ryan isn't it (I know, f,d,f).

Exactly. I wanted her pain and really, mourning, to obviously be driving her actions. But I do think a part of her will always resent RYan, for not loving her back as much as she loved him. She gave up a possible family life with Ryan, because she knew he would never be happy.

I can't help but feel for Theresa, even though it looks like she being cruel. She wants the one person she really loves in the world to be able to share her pain, however misguided that thought is.

I really liked the melancholy tone of the piece; I miss Theresa, and I don't think that she's the bad guy here.

I'm with crashcmb, though. I'm hoping this will all come to a head before the season ends, and we'll get some closure. I'd like to think that Ryan is not the baby daddy, but, being Ryan, that he'll be all conflicted and torn up over it anyway.

You nailed everything perfectly overnighter. I'm glad Theresa came off on paper as I wanted her to. Such a difficult situation, and in my mind, she regreted her words the minute they were out, because her actions did nothing to ease her pain.
And I agree with you about Ryan. It doesn't matter whos kid it is biologically, he's gonna freak that she lied to him.
(And I'm a bad person...cause I can't wait. RYAN!angst.....such a beautiful thing.)

Nice mood piece and just about as long as I want from you when you're not working on BoI. We need you to stay focused.

Yeah, I can see that as one possibility. Have Ryan share the pain. Of course, what she's punishing him for is his honesty. He wouldn't pretend to love her but he'd do anything else necessary to support her and the child including giving up his future. For Ryan it was never about who the baby's father was.

Perfectly stated. I don't think Ryan did ever care whose baby it really was.

Sometimes these little stories help me jump start BOI.
