“Te quiero,” she whispers.

She gives up the baby because her mother tells her to, because it’s the right thing to do, because good Catholic girls do things in a certain order.

Gah. I hate to see what Theresa's mixed up life could do to our boy. You painted a perfect picture there of pain and bitterness and "love". The baby part was particularly evocative.

*thank you* and thanks for the pimp. The baby "situation" is coming. I can feel it in my bones. I stay away from spoilers, so, I might be wrong. But I have a baaaaaad feeling that things are gonna be comin down pretty soon.

This was so simple and painful and perfect. And even though what she did to Ryan was cruel, I do sympathize with Theresa. She has nothing, and having nothing can make you lash out, especially at the person who failed to give you what you needed, even if the failure was no fault of his own.

Really, this would be the most satisfying resolution of the Theresa storyline. It would be hard to watch, and not at all OC-light (or lite), but it would be true to the characters and so effective.

Hey, just realized you left a review for this one.
Thanks!

I'm not worthy. (Hanging head down, still haven't done your next chapter.)

I would have LOVED! for the show to do this. And really, in my story, in my mind, she gave the baby up partially because she does love Ryan, and she didn't want the rest of his life to be burdened by this child he wasn't ready for. She gave them both up, Ryan and the baby, because she loves them.

You really conveyed her overwhelming pain, sadness and bitterness. It almost made me feel sympathetic, but then.... I almost get the sense that she likes the power she has over Ryan at that moment and how she will be able to keep that hold on him. She doesn't want to share her grief, she wants him to hurt like she does. What makes me all the more unreceptive towards her is that I rewatched "The Telenovela," which isn't a fave, and saw her manipulating Ryan and using him to leave Chino. Just watching her in and out of bed with Eddie.... I digress!!!!

I kind of left it up for each person to decide.

Me....I feel like she loves Ryan, and that's why she ultimately let him go. But she still blames him, even if it is subconsciously, for "making" her give up the baby, for not wanting a life with her, even though he would have dug in and done it.

I could keep on blabbing, but....anyway, thanks for reading and giving me your feedback. I love seeing people's interpretations.

Hi, interesting piece, I did like, the description of the new born baby. Theresa desperate for someone to share her pain felt very real to me, someone else to remember, to make her child matter. Jane

Oh, this is fantastic. I think it's the first fic I've read where Theresa gives up the baby. Well done.
