In my version of canon, this is exactly right--Julie and Ryan are permanently linked by Frank and by Ryan's half-brother, but somehow they're especially linked by Marissa.

And on a guilty note, especially in season four when Ryan seemed so much older, I always sensed a strange perhaps physical tension between J and R. Not that it was necessarily overtly sexual, but more born out of a mutual need for comfort over Marissa....in a very non-emotional way.
I realize that makes no sense, lol.

Ryan is confused with the odd command, but he does it anyway because even though he’s twenty-four, the man before him is still Sandy Cohen and when he tells Ryan to do something, Ryan might as well be sixteen again.
In this little paragraph/sentence you capture the essence of the parent/(adult)child relationship. Especially the one I can picture between Sandy and Ryan.
I like how you weaved canon into this future fic. Beautiful, simplistic writing as always.
