In the land of no rain
For close to a week it has been unseasonably warm - brilliant sunshine, highs in the '80's, T-shirt and sandal weather. It's my favorite kind of weather. I'm not too hot, never chilled, can walk out of the house in exactly what I was wearing in the house, toes free to wiggle in the wind. Comfortable, no hassles. It doesn't take a lot to make me happy
I spent most of yesterday at my friend Annie's house, glazing pots in her studio. (Context: my husband was out of town, and my son (22 y.o. with autism) was at respite camp, so I had almost 48 hrs when I was accountable to no one but me. Breaking News: Old Lady Runs, Part Deux
I was in a 5K race today. I ran for maybe 1/2-3/4 mile in all, and walked fast the rest of the time. I got light-headed after I ran, and felt pretty old and decrepid - really was affected by the temperature, even though it wasn't all that hot, so I wasn't feeling too fabulous about my performance when I finished. Breaking News: Old Lady Runs
I just ran a mile for the 1st time in about 20 years - no lie. The context for this is that I'm a sort-of coach with my son's Special Olympics cross-country running team. I didn't catch all of Sarah Palin's speech at the Republican convention, but I heard enough to make me queasy. Her taunting, mocking tone didn't sound like something I'd like to hear from someone a heartbeat away from the Presidency.
