With any luck, it'll be the end of non-rewritable physical media. So like solid-state flash drives and the like, hopefully. With other data being distributed directly-to-consumer via Intarwab.
Well, most recently because two discs of my brand new Season 1 of Heroes were scratched. I was able to exchange them at Borders for not scratched ones, but I was really frustrated at the time.
I've just had a lot of trouble with them. I had a CD alarm clock that slowly just stopped working and my car CD player often doesn't work right (so maybe these are problems with the CD players, not CDs, but still). In Uruguay we'd rent movies from Blockbuster and they'd skip so bad that you'd have to jump over several scenes. I forget what else. I just seem to find myself cursing at CD/DVDs pretty frequently.
