Babysense...Sleeping in Peace

A long time ago in my family, a baby died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).  I was not even born yet, so I obviously wasn't personally affected by it...or so you would think.  I have found that it has affected me and the rest of my family in indirect ways.  I think really that it brings it closer, says that it can happen to us, that it's not ( Read more... )

Thanks for passing along the information. I can't tell you how much this has decreased my anxiety during the nights. I smile at it every night before I go to sleep. (Silly, I know, but alas, tis true.)

I had cats, so worried about the possibility of them getting onto the baby in the night. However, I read that the actual occurrence of this happening to the extent that it would cause suffocation is near nil. Still, for peace of mind, I bought a crib net. It is a lovely device that fits over the crib, looks lovely and does not allow pets into the crib. I felt a lot better, even though as I said, studies have shown that a cat cannot form a complete seal over an infant's mouth and nose. Again, safety first, but I think this device is wonderful too and keeps fluffy, mommy and baby happy. It's just ridiculous to me when people get rid of pets dogs or cats when they have babies as children benefit from pets and with caution, it's a great relationship. Spreading the word is great so thanks for this post.
