I recently read a post asking for good Hermione moments in the films. The more I think about the it, the more I realize I really hate Hermione in the films. I don't know what it is about her; she just annoys me to no end. Could be the super!hermione and taking over POA...could be stealing all of the Weasley's lines (although, I know that is the ( Read more... )

I honestly like Hermione fine in the books. She's not my favorite character, but I think she's a good friend to Harry.

I can't stand how Hermione is portrayed in the films. She sets my teeth on edge and I cringe every time she's on screen. Other than the "Victor's not very loquacious" scene (which I find freaking hysterical and very teenager-y) there's honestly not any part of any of the movies which I enjoy her in. And it's not against Emma; I honestly think I'd like her as another character, but I hate her as Hermione. And I hate that the producers/directors are apparently Harmonians until Ginny is forced to be Harry's girl in HBP (did you see yet hug in the most recent trailer for OotP? I don't remember Hermione hugging Harry in OotP; she was scared of him practically the whole book).

This is partly why I've been enjoying Delylah's reread and commentary on the books lately...she's so snarky about Hermione it just cracks me up.

Anyway. My 2 cents. :D

How weird that my html tags aren't working in this post.

Love your layout, btw. It's awesome.

Yeah the writers are definitely Hermione fans. They do have Ginny in this one a lot more so *crosses fingers*

I know! I saw the hug and was like huh? Maybe there is a reason like in GoF (the sisterly hug) but I honestly can’t think of a reason in OotP for her to hug him…UNLESS it is the prefect badge scene; but she looked worried. :-|

I've been getting a kick out of her rereads as well. I should have done that as I was rereading 1-3 but didn't think about it. Hmmm, maybe I will for 4-6

Well, it's pretty much a toss up for me.

There are times when I want to reach into the book and grab Hermione by her bushy head and perform a *headdesk on her.

The movie Hermione is a hell of lot more annoying. I like Emma, I really do, but the way Hermione is written in the movies makes my teeth grind.

And the fact that the movies are screwed up anyway...well, that's a whole other rant. LOL.

My favorite Hermione moment is in OotP when she decides to throw rules out the window and start their own defense group. I was really proud of her for that.

Movie Hermione sucks. It's the way she is written, I don't really blame Emma. I am able to separate the movie from the books a lot better than you ;-) I still complain about them though. :-D

I liked book 1-3 Hermione. GoF Hermione was too preachy with SPEW, OotP Hermione was too I can't think of how to describe her...I do like the throwing the rules out the window but other than that. But HBP Hermione was a bitch. No way around it. I can remember you, Lost, and me talking about it afterwards and I told Lost I was now in her club, lol.

I actually hate all the films and haven't seen any past 3... which I barely sat through. In the first three movies Hermione was okay, I guess. To be honest she was the best actress of the three so I didn't mind her too much ( ... )

Emma is ok; it's the way the character is written that annoys me.

In GoF she did stick with Harry whereas Ron not so much, but the whole SPEW thing got old. She bullied people to join with shoving the cup under their nose, etc.

Her only good point in OotP was the idea for the DA.

And I agree about HBP, I hated her completely in it. I mean what true friend is upset because someone does better than you in class!

As usual, I go against the grain. I happen to like Hermione in the books (THE BIG EXCEPTION IS THE ENTIRE HBP BOOK *throws it out the window*). She can get a shrill and preachy, but I always felt (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF HBP *jams it into the garbage*) that it was either rooted in concern for Ron and Harry or a deep-seated insecurity (overachiever trying to prove herself) that made her seem real to me. But most of you know that I'm a sucker for faulty characters who often make wrong choices even though deep down their intentions might've been good, or at least seemed good to them, or could be explained by a fundamental character flaw. I'm more of a consistency spaz. If a character suddenly begins to act in a way that seems contrary to what their beliefs/values seemed to have been (Hermione in HBP *shoves the book under the bed*), I get annoyed ( ... )

ROFL I hate Hermione in HBP. She is such a bitch in it...are all 16 yo girls that way? *can't remember*

I can almost see Ginny's pov though. She is 15, dating, has meddlesome brother, and very passionate. Now let me reread HBP again in about a month and I might have a different response ;-)

I rather empathised with Hermione early in the books. I too have sometimes uncontrollable bushy hair and always ended up with close male buds who made me completely mad at times. In the later books I think she's just being a hormonal teen who is -socially- outgrowing the two great loves of her life and she's frustrated that they can't keep up. At this point, although obvious to us that Ron & Hermione are meant to be together, it wouldn't be to her. She does indeed love both boys, but hasn't learned enough about her own emotions to distinguish romatic love from sisterly love ( ... )

I can see that (book Hermione) I like her ok...except for HBP.

I can also see, and mostly agree, with the movie aspect. Ginny is kinda secondary (even though she had a big part in CoS that the movie missed)but reading the books you can see all the clues. *shakes head* It makes you wonder sometimes if they are reading the same books we are.
