Tonight my sister busted out her violin. It started with me playing the lines of an early music piece assigned to the class by our teacher. I was thinking I couldn't wait to hear it sung with my classmates when it hit me: I could just ask my sister to sight read the alto line. So she did, and what a pretty sound! Last Saturday I accompanied myself and sang a musical number in front of a live audience, a piece which I: a) just learned and b) rewrote the lyrics in the second verse. AND I didn't fall down during any part of it.

Tonight I auditioned for a local conservatory in town. This being the first time I've sang in front of an actual audience, I decided to go conservative and stick with two pieces I knew: "Beau Soir" by Debussy and "Deh Vieni, Non Tardar" by Mozart. Blackout in Queens May Last Through the Weekend

Officials with Consolidated Edison said today they would be working “through the weekend” to restore power to residents in parts of Queens who are now on their fifth day without electricity. And more.

The fridge and freezer was overdue for a cleaning, anyhow.
