Thanks to a friend who had a friend, I went to a Mary J. Blidge concert last night! Mary was so inspirational, shouting things like, "Put your hands up if you know you can follow your dreams!" On Friday after finding out (by voicemail!!), I cried in Times Square and had to go into that huge, flashy McDonald's for napkins to pat my face.

Have you seen The Squid and the Whale? I have a sore throat and the old woman aches so I stayed in last night and watched it. That I stayed in is remarkable because I have been "burning the candle at both ends," as my dad would say. Which is probably why I got sick.
