It's 2pm, school pickup is in an hour and I have achieved precisely nothing today, which wouldn't matter so much if it didn't leave me with huge amounts to do tonight and over the weekend (when I also have to go furniture shopping, attend a hen's night, and go to a birthday party for one of Alastair's classmates). Stupid heat.

This is fascinating! At our old place we didn't have verge collections* so it was all the stuff of urban legend to me. But ours is THIS WEEK and I've seen people trawling the streets with utes and trailers, squeezing couches into station wagons and balancing large items on small trolleys.
