If you lived as a child in the 60s or the 70s, it's hard to believe we have lived as long as we have. As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a ute on a warm day was always a special treat. Our baby cots were covered with bright coloured lead-based paint. We had no childproof lids on medicine

My parents tend to tell me about the "good ol days" and how spoilt and sheltered we are today. They say kids today are lazy, and I guess we are, to a certain extent. But then again, is it really safe to be wandering the streets alone these days? Especially if you're classified as an attractive young girl. Sometimes you've really got to wonder how society became the way it is today.

Don't know if its the "good ol days" but some things were more fun - on the other hand, I love alot of what is around today and would hate to swap. We all have different values I guess and we are tolerant of different things - it will never be 'just right' for everyone, too many possibilities and society evolves regardless - thats the way it is. My mother whinges all the time about the way it was, how she wishes it would be, and according to her, the way it should be - I think it makes her life pretty miserable at times. However, there are lots of fun and interesting things, you make a choice and go for it!

Hello Mrs Griffiths,

If i had a choice... im sure i would have picked the fifties.
Back then life was just beginning to become fun again,Those flapper girls look really interesting. I'm sure the music was pretty cool too. Its true alot of people wish it was the way it was back then, but after all our advances in technology it would be a shame to go back to worrying about measles and tuberculosis killing people, Plus the internet and ready made food would be way off. :p
