The SAF administration officially sucks. I just received a call-up for Jan 2008. Now this sort of thing is not supposed to happen because it's right smack in the middle of term time. From my understanding, this sort of thing never happens because the SAF plans all of their ICT trainings and what-not such that it all coincides with the major term

I am only ranting.
As for your previous encounters, I don't think I remember you ranting about them.
And if have ever had to defer from a call up, you will realise that that is the only way to do it (short of your uncle being some big shot in the government).
And lastly, I don't slam the phone on people, it's very uncouth.

It would be more favourable for you to apply for disruption under IHL via the institute, in your case NUS. This information should be communicate to you by the institution since enrolment. Otherwise, it would be your responsibility to find out more if you wish to disrupt from reservist. Disruption from reservist is entirely optional, even when one is a full-time student in an IHL. There is nothing stopping you from going for your Jan 08 ICT.
Your predicament is more of NUS's inadequateness imo, and not that of your unit.

Yeah, and I didn't know that it was the university's responsibility to inform us about such matters (unless of course I missed out some tiny paragraph in the 'Welcome to NUS' booklet. LOL!
Ah well...always nice to get a nice mature perspective on the matter. =P
