So who do you think is the best poet + musician of the 20th century? (i need this because, on my new site, I have two text boxes, one has a poem by Rimbaud, which lived life "like a rockstar/beat" whatever, and I then actually want a rockstarpoet thing, if all else fails I might use a passage from a BEAT poetry book or just novel or something, ( Read more... )

Rimbaud is definitely up there but he wasn't 20th century.. neither was Baudelaire. :-/

Robert Priest
Jeff Mangum (because his lyrics > most poetry out there anyway)
Richard Hell
John Weiners
Patti Smith
T S Eliot
e. e. cummings

like, omg, the best poet is definately robert frost and the best musician is obviously bright eyes!!!!!!!

What would you do if that were really my answer??

Hmmm, let me think for a minute about this.....I'll second e.e. cummings, and suggest most any of the beat poets. I have the name of this really amazing poet I just recently found on the tip of my tongue but I can't remember it for some reason. If I do I'll post it. As for best musician of the 20th century, I'm hardly quailified to say.

Wow, that really wasn't a lot of help, was it? I tried :(
