Don't think I wasn't tempted. But a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, and this isn't the kind of thing you can run away from. If only because Melissa probably would've mentioned it in her own journal.

Besides, I kinda missed the thwacks. And Vic's SHAME!s aren't anything to be sneezed at, either.

Oh, she's not going to hurt me, or anything. No, she loves me too much for that. She's just so disappointed, though. She knows she's old and no longer relevant, and all, but she was just hoping that her first-born would remember her birthday, that's all. That's not too much to ask, is it? I suppose it is.

Luckily, Mom doesn't actually go in for that kind of guilt trip. Or not for long, anyway. She did point out that Wendy remembered, but that doesn't really indicate Wenbdy's likely to supplant me as the Good Child anytime soon.
