This seems really odd to write, but more often than not, it feels like I don't have a sister. She remains a fixture in my life, kind of like that person you always seem to run into during concerts, at clubs or during a run to the grocery store. This person is usually someone you had a history with, but time, circumstances and whatnot have caused ( Read more... )

I think you and I are the same when it comes to our sisters. A lot of what you said resonated with me.

I'm definitely the same about my sister. In fact, I think most people do not even know I have a sister, which is fine by me.

My brother and I get along well, but we rarely see each other except birthdays, holidays, and the occassional bump into each other at Mom's. Yet we always seem to pick up where we left off, like it has only been a few days since we last talked, rather than a few months.

Gary and his brother are the same, I guess even worse. Gary and his family (parents and brother) are not even on speaking terms. Gary and his brother tried to have a better relationship a couple of years ago but they are so different that it didn't work. Gary is a shy liberal and Jason is a loud mouthed republican.

I'm not really close to my brothers but I think it's because I don't live near them and there is a big age difference. My older one is 34 (not a big difference in age) and my younder one is 17 (big age gap).

I was kind of estranged from my oldest brother for reasons I won't get into.

One day, we just started talking online, became LJ buddies, and now occasionally IM each other. He sends gifts on our birthdays and everything. But in order for that to work out well the way it has, I think we both had to want that relationship.

And it helps that he's a really cool guy. He's almost 10 years older than me, but we're alike in a lot of ways. And he gives the best advice. I guess it helps that he's a frickin' genius, too.

And now I realize all this crap I said probably isn't very helpful. Oh well. The intentions were there.
