Parve Ice Cream

Jun 13, 2008 11:08

One of the cruelest tricks in the world is parve (non-dairy) ice cream. There it is, sitting on the shelf as though it belongs, labeled with a small little sign in an innocuous, hardly noticeable place. Then you get home, thrilled to be treating yourself to a much deserved fancy. It looks great. You dig in, scooping a dollop into your open mouth. ( Read more... )

I'm kinda indifferent towards parve ice cream - but I LOVE parve sorbet. Just sayin'...

Sure, if you're opting into it, but not when you think you're getting something else. Hmm, parve sorbet, haven't seen that. Do you have a particular brand you like? Isn't sorbet dairy free anyway?

What are you up to these days, anyway?!

Yeah, sorbet is always parve. I just meant, my cold, sweet dessert product of choice, which happens to also be parve, is sorbet.

I'm... finishing up my life here in Jtown. And Israel. I have a one-way ticket to the US booked for June 30th.

i used to eat it all the time when i was a vegan. and also, before i got pregnant, because of lactose issues. of course, now that i'm gestating i can digest things like cardboard boxes and tin cans, and am eating a ton of ice cream. go figure.

I am going to have to use the verb "gestating" sometime soon. I usually say "in gestation," but gestating is more fun.

Do you really think of your digestive system as that strong now? I'm food aversion central over here as opposed to turning into a goat, which would be much more convenient.

Sending you Sawyer-wearing-glasses love.

Wait, I just reread that after following your profile and remembering your new name. You're pregnant!! Yay, congratulations. Now I have to go read your journal with a fine tooth comb to see what I missed. I knew I'd looked at your new journal before, but I think it was when my computer was tanking. Clearly I didn't friend you properly, so I'm glad you wrote so I could do it again.

Israel has the BEST parve ice cream in the entire kosher world. Mmmm.

Since I polished off 4L of chocolate ice cream, I am now eating a container of chocolate pudding.

i dunno if that's a brand or what, but if you picked up a Purely Decadent vegan ice cream, you would be in heaven.

That sounds tasty! Do you know where I could get it a little closer to home?

Your icon is adorable, btw.

To me or theamaranth? I guess you could find it in a kosher grocery store...? If you're looking for non-dairy ice cream, it is probably easier to find the vegan ice creams recommended above or something like Tofutti.
