"There is nothing wrong with my hair," Peter shot back, slapping Sherlocks hands away from his tie and intentionally pulling it back how it was. He wasn't a toddler who needed to be dressed, he made his choice. And yes, he'd already been lectured for having his suit somewhat wrinkled, having to borrow Sams tie so it didn't match perfectly and wearing converses instead of shoes but he didn't realise he was going off to play Sherlocks date when he packed to come here.

Ruffling his hair so it looked more untamed and maddening, he gave Sherlock an amused smile.

"There you go, much better. I look like a regular prince. Now knock the door and stop sulking," Pausing, he gave Sherlock a small frown. "I'm not stealing Johns girlfriend, despite my track record. Get it out your head."

Mummy could make life easier on herself and allow Mycroft to go through the introductions, but Mummy has never been one to pawn off the easier route on her eldest.

On the other hand, she is not above using Mycroft (although is it truly using if her son volunteers?) connections to make sure, when her youngest and his "date" arrive, Mummy Holmes is ready.

When they do arrive, Mummy will give Peter a smile reminiscent of what he knew when he was a boy: friendly, but potentially frightening should any misbehavior occur.

"Are you sure I look okay?" It was the fourth time Mary had asked John this in the cab on the way over. She had dressed formally for the most part, not wearing her best dress but a very nice one that brought out the blue in her eyes and complimented her hair. Her hair was pulled back into a braid, hair parted on the side. The nervous smile hadn't left her face since John had picked her up at the train station ( ... )

Sherlock's brought wine to dinner again (his mother did teach him how to be a good guest even if it's an act) but he's really only interested in seeing if John's arrived yet. He hasn't. Sherlock breathes a small sigh of relief and ignores his brother as he lounges back on the settee.

Mycroft has been a fundamental part of Sherlock's life lately, offering up brotherly advice, stalking him to the grocery store, being ever on hand to make Sherlock annoyed.

"Didn't bring a date?" Ah ha! Victory for Sherlock! Yes, he was petty enough tonight to find a victory in anything.
