I really enjoyed that! The connection between them was subtle but lovely, and even though it's sad, I'm not left in complete despair for Remus. :) I loved the structure of seven train rides, too.

I love this--you've distilled Remus's moments with Lily over seven years in such a beautiful way, with just the right balance of wistfulness and humor. I laughed at the puffer fish comparison! And that last conversation between the two was so bittersweet, with James's presence adding some well-placed humor--the "randy baboon" and James drawing a heart on the glass are priceless.

I love the structure of this and the way those brief moments at the start of each year build into such an exploration of all the characters - nof just Remus and Lily but their contemporaries and families too.
