I was learning how to dress myself, but the sleeves were tricky and dinner was getting cold. "You know what," my father said, annoyed. "Nevermind. I'll just do it ( Read more... )

It sucks that all these educational experiences are being missed out on, but I know exactly how all the people saying "never mind" are feeling.

I know. I hate doing the whole "Nevermind, I'll do it," thing because I'd so much rather have them learn than me just do it for them. But there are some times where it's just easier and quicker to do it myself. And when you're on a deadline, sometimes that's your only choice, unfortunately.

Still sucks though.

Oh this is a familiar feeling! On both sides. But I do make a point of letting my little ladies work their way through things when I can. Nicely done!

I hated it when it was said to me, then I hated when I had to say it to others. It's tough.

This is the dark side of "never mind." It can be used to eliminate an opportunity to teach a skill, and it also can make a person feel like less, as if he or she wasn't worth the time or effort.

Yeah. I try my best not to say it. I would so much rather be able to teach my coworkers, friends, etc. how to do a task than push them out of the way so I can do it myself.

But our company sprang a new design program on us and only trained me, who then had to go and train several others, without giving us any time to do the training due to the daily deadlines we have to meet. So I had to train everyone while doing my normal duties and still make deadline. Not good, haha.

As my grandmother used to say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Every "nevermind" here is well intentioned, but also a lost opportunity.

I really, really like this! Great use of the prompt. Each example rings with truth. Brava!

So true. I don't think anyone wanted to take over the task in any of those situations, but it was an unfortunately necessary part of that particular time.

Thank you! :)

At work, we have new people training. They'll operate the computer while I talk to the customers. I cannot tell you how many times I've wanted to grab the mouse and say those words to them! I really liked this!

It drives me bonkers sometimes. I know that feeling of just wanting to take over. Usually I don't do it, because they have to learn, but when deadline is an hour away and we've got a ton of work to do, I usually do it so we don't get in trouble.

Thank you. :)
