It takes SO much more patience (and often time) to teach someone to do something that it easier to just do on your own. But we have to make the effort, especially with children. Too many parents these days aren't teaching their kids basic competence because they don't have the patience. :(
On the other hand, if your standing at work is going to suffer, teaching someone the new method at a different time seems the best choice. It's not never, it's just not when there's such a critical outcome.
Our office is not the smartest when it comes to rolling out new programs. They usually train one or two people very quickly, then throw us to the wolves when we have very little chance of meeting deadline. We lay out 16 newspapers on Mondays, 18 on Tuesdays, and 8 on Wednesdays. When do they introduce new programs? Mondays.

I do spend our slower days teaching when new programs are introduced, but that doesn't help us on those few crazy Mondays and Tuesdays.
Yeah, I really do my best not to do it, too. My office likes to spring new software on us during our busiest times, so it is often unavoidable, which sucks.

I hate when I have to do it, but sometimes you don't have a choice. It sucks when that happens. But I try to be conscious of it and not do it unless absolutely necessary.
I have been at the both sides of "Nevermind" . There maybe varying intentions behind saying it, but it somehow always makes the other person feel atleast a teensy weensy bit bad. Nice entry.
