I would tell you my name but it wouldn't mean much. The name I am called is not my true name, not the name given to me by the ancestors. I was born an urban Indian, to parents who had, at the time, forgotten the old ways. What an interesting way too choose a name!

But not all modern parents do not know what they name their child, even if our cultures may lack true naming ceremonies. My own choose the names by their meaning, and I have come to understand that mine, in Greek, meant what I am becoming. Strange, but also wonderful.

Have you ever looked up your name's origins? :-)
