it's a sewalong!

I started working on two much-requested satchels for the big girls.

Little one-shoulder messenger bags. Easy peasy. There is an adorable messenger bag pattern in the book I just got from the library, Little Things To Sew. Really, really cute book.

I love sewing!

ROFL! I fixed a split in the seam of a skirt, and a hem of my trousers that had fallen down, using iron-on hemming stuff, the other day, and I was SO PROUD OF MYSELF! I can sew buttons on, too.

You have my sympathies and respect. The bags are going to be adorable though!

I love you. Despite your chaos, you make me want to sew more. Now I just need a little girl for poof and tulle sewing.

No, see, I know if this is how it goes for Katie, that I will never be capable of sewing anything more than a hem or re-attaching a button.

And even that I'll likely fluff up.

this. so totally this!! If KATIE is having trouble, then I'm HOSED. I'll stick to straight lines, thankyouverymuch. but it looks FREEKING awesome.

finished pics, please.

Also, I'm betting Bat's will be lots easier. Why would you line Bat's?

I'm sorry about the broken needles and #$@&* of the whole thing, but that bag is adorable! Highly recommend needles meant for sewing leather for ultrasuede, though -- they are a necessity. I can send you some if it's not too late.

On the quilted one, wouldn't it be simpler to use binding and treat the fabric like it's already lined? And/or use a French seam on the inside. I'm all about lazy sewing, myself.

Yeah, now that I have totally given up on interior pockets, I think I will serge the blooming thing and call it a day.
