I have no idea about renaming, though I'd suggest something not obviously fandom related. I used to be in favor of the anonymity, but 1. if I'm in, I don't care about favoritism; and 2. I do think that, given the circumstances which I've experienced, it may be better to leave fics under writer's control in case they have to do name changes, etc. later on (much easier on you, as well

WORD. I don't - frankly, I'm sorry - care about anything but MCR. Other bands don't interest me at all.

I agree in part with everything you've said. Honestly I've never ventured out of the MCR fandom before, so I'd like to see what else the world has to offer, and I think a huge fic challenge comunity, rather than just an MCR one, might be fun.

That being said, I think the problem I'm having is that not everyone reads every pairing if we open it to ~bandom at large. You know? So I'm in a quandary where I want to branch out but I also don't want it to turn into Panic-a-rama.

Yeah, exactly. :) And I just fear that it would become all about Patrick/Pete and Ryan/Brendon or something like that. There is more than plenty of that around.

Oh man! First of all let me say how excited I was to see this pop up on my f-list, and that I'd definitely be up for it opening up again even if it's just the old format. I'm sick right now so I was moping in my bed and browsing on my iPhone, but I ran over to my laptop to write this comment because I really love this place. If you needed some help with the revamping, or really anything at all I'd be willing to help. In fact I was just looking at the past posts this weekend and being ~nostalgic.

1) yes, I want it reopened if at all possible. I like that it's a short fic challenge, and how quickly things go in comparison to bandombigbang, and other such challenge communities.

2) I'm probably in the minority, but I would LOVE for it to be open to bandom at large. Since MCR is on hiatus I (and other people, I'm assuming) have been entertained by other bands and as such I really haven't written anything MCR related in a while. While what tempore said makes sense, that people will read/vote according to the bands they know/preferences, I'm thinking from a

i'd hate to open it to bandom, because it would become mcr + decaydance regardless. :/

adding on, it would also become more decaydance than mcr and i'm one of the few who can't stand decaydance bands as a whole, so then i'd have no interest in the community at all.

I don't mind MCR fic with people from other bands in it now and then, but I don't want to read whole stories about other bands. I just don't want to have to get to know dozens of other characters, most of whom are probably in bands I don't even know (Sevenfold Cobra Academy) or don't like (Panic at the Disco, Green Day, and Smashing Pumpkins can all bite me).

On the other hand... if it were all-bandom, we could have an "Abuse Pete Wentz" challenge. I would like that. Hmm.

I'm all for opening it up to bandom in theory (which is why that's what I voted for) but really, I know it'll become MCR + Wentz's boytoys and maybe some TBS thrown in there.

So, I'm totally useless, but if majority vote goes for staying MCR centric (which I'm starting to think is a better idea) I really do like mychemicaltest. :)

Thanks for the input - I'm trying to go with the majority, but that's what I'm really worried about. I really don't want it to become like, all MCR + Panic/Cobra/FOB all the time.

Which it most likely would, unfortunately. I won't lie, its what I would probably write too. They're just so easy to turn into characters.

I've never ventured out of the MCR fandom, but I hear it's kind of ridic. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way we can limit the use of other bands without limiting creativity.

I was thinking maybe we could alternate between challenges where crossovers are allowed, and challenges that are strictly MCR. Or maybe crossovers, MCR only, other bands only? I want to be fair to everyone, and MCT was so much fun that I'd like to see writers from all over bandom come out and write for it.

Am I deluded to think that more band choices would equal a better selection of fic? I know not everyone is into everything, but I'm hoping people can overcome their OTPs.
