Well, today we did our First Aid certificate course. There were 14 students in total, and we all ended up being at least reasonably competent. Most of it seems to be common sense, but it is reassuring to know that we are doing the best possible thing, and it certainly made us think about a few situations that we might not have etherwise ( Read more... )

My mother is the youngest in her family, and the only child of her mother's second marriage. The church where I work and worship was opened in 1839. We went to the travel agent on 15th April, and wanted to pay for our trip to Britain by eftpos direct from our account, but there is a limit (I think with all Australian banks) of $1,000 per day, and the fare was $4,590. And we paid in full, so the price is locked in-prices are going to go up this week because of increasing fuel prices, and even though things go up AND down, airlines never seem to decrease their prices because of fuel prices. I've been in my job now for about 7 weeks, and it's still great! I leave the house early, work longer hours than I they pay me for, and I'm still enjoying it. The rector (my boss) is away for two weeks holiday, which lets me get on with doing things pretty much without interruption, but even when he is home, it's still fine.
