I will NOT suck dick to get a good grade.

Alright, I'm not saying that I'm such a badass that I should just GET an A. But here's the sitch: I come to my Russian History Since 1917 class every day, I do as much reading as can be reasonably expected of someone who has other shit to do in her life, I take good notes, and for CHRISSAKES I SPEAK Russian. So why do I keep getting B's on my ( Read more... )

can you ask the professor to look over your test? if you can make a solid case that it should have been graded higher, maybe they can change it? i know some professors have policies where they won't regrade or whatever, but if it's something that seems really sketchy and unfair like this, maybe you can work something out...good luck!

If you sincerely feel uncomfortable you have absolutely every right to go straight to the professor, or even the head of the department and skip the TA.

was this for charters wynn's class? just curious.

i'd bypass the TA and talk to the professor. it doesn't sound like the TA is grading fairly. typically profs end up saying stuff like, if the TA graded it, it is up to him.... that's when you say, i think he grading me unfairly because... [insert your reason].

may lead to awkward moments if he confronts the TA in front of you, but...

yeah it's wynn's class. Did you take him/this class for Normandy Scholars? He seems like an alright guy but the readings are the most boring shit I've EVER laid eyes upon. I'm meeting with the TA tomorrow, and if he doesn't up my grade then I'm going to talk to Wynn.

charters is a nice guy, but a lot of his book choices are really boring. i took russian history from 1917 (which went up to post WWII russia) for normandy scholars, and then a few semesters after that, i took russian history up to 1917 with him. i remember enjoying the novels he assigned were pretty nice, but the actual history books were really dry, and i think i didn't read a few of them. he went over most of the info during class, anyway, and i had good attendance.

charters outside of school is way better than sitting in his class, though.. he is hilarious, gets really drunk, hits on girls, and laughs a ton. he's a little awkward during class. if i had just taken his class and not gotten to know him outside of russian history courses (ie, not hung out with him in normandy scholars while in europe), i probably would've been bored.

good luck with your grade!
