Back in business, finally!

So what happened for my long weekend? A big thunderstorm on Friday knocked a tree over across the street, which knocked the cable wire from our house and loosened the power lines so that they hung dangerously low. So, I have had no Internet access for four days! Miraculously, I have survived, but only because we have been insanely industrious ( Read more... )

Yes, and a lot of our color choices are food names: Banana Cream/Apple Sauce/Vermont Cream in the bedroom; Celery spring in the hallway; Italian Olive, Ripe Wheat, and Paremsan in the dining room.

The other room we painted this weekend was "Hydrangea Blue," which is one of my favorite blues. :)

That was a terrible storm, wasn't it? I'm glad it was nothing worse than losing Internet for a few days (although that's bad enough :)

The new paint color sounds intriguing... I did a lot of housework myself over the weekend, including stripping off the ugly wallpaper in the bathroom (very cathartic feeling, actually; I've hated it since I bought the house). I still have to hang the new wallpaper, though :-/

Luckily we don't have any big trees close to the house. Our street used to be canopied with old maples, I am told, but they have succumbed little by little. I think the tree across the street was the last original neighborhood tree. Newer trees have been planted, which is nice. I love my trees.

When the room is finished I will post pictures. Stripping off wallpaper is so messy. We did that in the dining room--luckily it was only on the wall under the chairrail. I don't have the confidence to hang wallpaper myself. Have you done it before? I am sure it felt wonderful to get rid of the old horrid paper!

Hmm, looking forward to seeing the pictures! I've helped my mom several times to hang wallpaper. Hopefully I will remember enough to do it correctly! It's a teeny tiny bathroom, though, and I chose a pattern that will be forgiving of my mistakes, LOL.

I love painting and refinishing furniture but it does take blocks of time I seldom have. Since I bought my house I have redone the living room, dining room, my bedroom and added a screened back porch. Now, I am working on the kitchen but it is piecemeal, however I did get my new blue vinyl floor and it makes me smile every time I parade through. So pretty! Your hall sounds wonderful! I think that clean asian look is so restfully zen and green is a soothing color for me. I am glad nothing worse happened with the lightning! We had a storm this spring and the wires got stretched and the UPS truck hit them in front of my house delivering printer ink!

Hi, Slipperie! All we seem to do is house projects! We enjoy it, but it leaves little time (and money) for anything else. S. wants to redo the kitchen and we might wind up doing it piecemeal, too.

What color blue is your floor? There's nothing like new surroundings that reflect your personality to make you feel good. I am all about a pleasing atmosphere.

Our paper delivery guy ran over the first wires before he even saw them. I am scratching my head on that one. He delivers the paper well after the sun comes up.
