The Dark Knight

Pipes and I got to see "The Dark Knight" last night on IMAX, with my brother and his wife.

We'd seen it once before, but the experience was simply better when projected on a screen the size of a building. Apparently, from what I'm told, this movie was filmed for IMAX, and then the top and bottom portions were cut off to fit in most "regular"( ( Read more... )

Oh yea. I definitely thought this was better than "Begins"...it WAS darker though. I usually don't find myself disturbed by movies, but this one got me in a couple of places. All of the acting was brilliant, especially Heath's. If I hadn't known it was him, I might not have placed him. But yea, good.

Agreed. This one got me. What got me the most, though, was the moral situations that characters found themselves in. And, the choices they made --- such as sacrificing themselves (in the case of Dent and Batman), or choosing NOT to sacrifice others -- which flavored the outcome of the movie.

I would like to think that neither ship would detonate the other, in that later situation. What a triumph.

Personally, I thought Heath Ledger played it more like one of the Joker's henchmen than the Joker himself. My roommate felt like he never really "came down" from his manic side, wheras I myself felt he didn't bring enough of the manic intensity and black humor that have always been part and parcel of the Joker: between us we agreed that he almost hit it right.

But NO-ONE will ever be a better Joker than Mr. Mark Hamill.

Heh! I was shocked to learn that Mark Hamil was the Joker, after watching the animated series for awhile. He really did do a good job, didn't he? ;-)

(I have to admit... I have a perma-crush on Harley Quinn)
