Myrna, for a moment there, I thought I was going to have keep liking Dan, but he turned down the driveway sex, so he gets a big old thumbs down from me. Justin's not begging for sex, he's begging for intensity and Dan just can't give him that. Brian would have read Justin's desperation for what it really was.

And I love that we don't get to hear what Brian said to Justin in the kitchen - you just know that Brian's saying exactly the right thing to Justin by the way he blushes and nods before he walks away.

Wonderful work, as always! Can't wait for the next part.

Absolutely. I said earlier, Justin's been numb for awhile now, and I think he's starting to want to feel things again. He's used to feeling things in a really big way.

I LOVE all three characters in this story.

I can see Dan losing in the long run - because it's Brian. I cannot see Brian losing -- which makes it such an interesting possibility. I can see Justin being happy with Dan. I can see Justin with Brian, but not happy in the same way.

I believe Justin and Dan could have a long and fulfilling life together. They laugh together, something we don't see Justin do with Brian.
I'm not convinced that Justin would be happier with Brian -- fabulous sexual chemistry can't fill the gaps in their lives together.

And I'm stunned by this...There's no such thing as over as far as he's concerned. It'll always come back to me. I've never heard Brian say (or think) this about Justin anywhere before (canon, fiction, video). We may think it's true, but WOW. WHAT! a declaration of war ( ... )

I thought it was a declaration of war too. I loved that. I love the image of Brian circling Dan whispering in his ear.

Thanks so much for your comments! I'm conflicted too! I wanted to present a scenario where there was no clear cut solution. I didn't want to stack the decks so that the third party is never a viable obstacle to Brian and Justin!

Myrna, I am mourning the lose of Justin here.

I teared up over this and couldn't figure out why and I figured it out now.

This Justin isn't a healthy or happy. Why is he hiding, why is he going the safe way instead of doing what is least expected.

I am so disappointed in who this justin is.

Myrna, I am loving this story a lot it isn't very often I stick with a brian or justin with someone else story so I can't wait to see what you have in store for us.

I am so disappointed in who this justin is.But remember, Justin's life was humming along at full tilt, when Brian announced out of the blue that they were over. Not long after, Justin's mother is killed and then his father and sister move to another city. Everything he counted on, everything he trusted to be there no matter what was gone ( ... )

ADDENDUM:

Brian's eyes narrowed even as he mocked Dan's words. "There's no such thing as over as far as he's concerned. It'll always come back to me." Brian slowly circled around Dan, leaning close to Dan's ear as he slyly whispered, "You can blow the fucking shit out of arteries from now to the end of time, and it will always come back to me." (Had to go back and find this..)
Isn't this what it always comes down to? Nothing's over with Brian, even when the fat lady sings. As much as I like Dan, and as much as I think Brian's a dick (literally and figuratively), it's always going to come down to Brian, always going to come *back* to Brian. It's just a fact of life, it seems.

Nothing's over with Brian

At least not where Justin's concerned. It's not necessarily a good thing, but I think it is a cold, hard fact! The intensity of Brian and Justin is rare, and once they've experienced it, I'd think it would be hard to accept that you can't find that same intensity with other partners.

Well said. I don't think there's any other word to describe Brian and Justin's quasi-lationship other than "intense." It reminds me of the Jack Kerouac quotation.. "Because the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars." Or perhaps the Kurt Cobain one.. "It's better to burn out than fade away."

I'll stop with quoting random dead people now.
