Post the Second: The Jarring Job

It has recently been brought to my attention that I have been neglecting my duties at the library. This has more to do with the fact that I was not aware I had a job at all than a desire to get myself fired.

The library in this town can only be described as dismal. A word here which means, seemingly lacking in any material that would be useful to ( Read more... )

Well, I'll try but I do not believe this library will contain any information on turtles.

Well, that's shit. What about tortoises? Snails? Anything with shells.

Perhaps an encyclopedia. If one is able to be located. The types of books seems to vary based on what person is looking for it.

I don't suppose you have a job that has anything to do with the animals you are looking for?

I've read quite a bit of material in the library, and unfortunately I haven't found anything useful either. Quite a bit of romance novels, though. Good lord, what a waste of trees.

Yes, they are rather usless. The few I've managed to find about libraries are interesting but do nothing to aid my search for other books.

The histories are particularly bland. Very whitewashed and 'pleasant'. 'This is such a lovely place, Mayfield.' That sort of thing.

I wandered rather far into the stacks one afternoon and found two or three completely blank books.

Well at the very least they are "pleasant". Though I'm sure then they do not relay the truth. The truth is rarely pleasant.

Completly blank you say? I suppose that would make sense.

Nothing? But what's the point?

There are still plenty of books, however from what I have been able to peice together, the subject mater of the books is severly limited.

So it's controlled information? Well that should have been expected.

Yes, I suppose. The way they're controlling the informationn seems rather interesting as well.

Even the library is cracknobbed?

Cracknobbed? I must confess, I have never heard that expression before.

Oh, it means...confused. Delusional. We used it at home in Tortall, mainly in Lower City Corus....which you've probably never heard of.

Ah, no. I can not say I have. A very interesting word though. I shall have to record it in my commonplace book.

I was planning to take a look at the library tomorrow, but I was afraid that might be the case.

Yes it seems that have found another way to control what we can or can not do in this town.

It is most unfortunate. I was hoping that if I was forced to work in the library, in the very least I would be able to find some good books.

You were forced into a job as well?

It seems that I am now a florist in this town.

Yes, I was recently informed that I had not been showing up for work at the libary. Despite the fact that I wasn't aware I even had a job.

A florist, have you done work like that before?
