Harvard doesn't accept working class bloodlines with a hatred of the system. Ergo, I'm fucked. Oh well :)

I can make awesome music, work hard, and live a happy life.

Actually, they do. If you make yourself look good enough on paper first. Grad school is a whole other ball game from undergrad. And if you build yourself up enough as an undergrad, they will beg you to come work for nothing for them as a grad slave. However, I have not built myself up that well...but I have done enough so that I have a competitive shot at it that I think I am gonna take.

But what's the point? Kids with sub-par academic talents get in for free thanks to mommy and daddy, and because of their parent's network, generally will have better outcomes than someone who was from the working class. The returns seem rather diminishing to me ( ... )

Actually, mommy and daddy don't pay for grad school. Grad school is not undergrad, it's different. The department pays your tuition in full and generally give you a stipend for working in a lab rotation. You are clearly full of vehement anger for anyone that feels like their achievements and life direction is in their own hands, and that is very sad. Because it really truly is. And you can sit here and complain about what's the point all you want...but the point is you can't mooch of people forever. You have to earn your way somehow. Making music is great but it wont bring you the means to support yourself. Or if it does it will never bring you the means to have anything above a top ramen lifestyle ( ... )

Also, all of the above is the reason "By God's Will" has become so meaningful to me...and why a lot of the deterministic views of historic philosophers comfort me. If successful people have anything, or anyone, to thank...it's God. And chaos.
