Thank you for this comment and yes I do think that what I shared here was a kind of turning point for me in my approach to not only the project that you and I are both engaged in, but also my sense of being and fitting (or not) in the world. I am discovering some really deep underlying complexes and unquestioned ideas. Its really something.

I think that I am more and more seeing that yes, as you said, certain credentials or accomplishments are 'portable'. I am so struck by that explanation. It has really stuck with me.

About Lex Hixon, as far as I know he also had inherited wealth and yet, as you say, he spent a lot of his life in a kind of academic preparation for what he went on to do. I also have the feeling at times that if I were to leave academia, I would only be going on to apply these valuable skills somewhere else!

Of course I never feel good enough, but then many people don't! So, next I will write about this existential stuff about belonging nowhere in the universe. we will see how that unfolds.
