Okay, technically not a meme. But we will treat it as a sort of meme anyway. This is like "why did you pick your mortal names", but instead of mortal names it is, guess what, usernames~

So what is your character's username and why did you pick it? Prize goes to the best reasoned username. Okay there is no prize, but you will get a FFF THAT IS SO ( Read more... )

Odin has, like, 200+ names they call him in various texts. I just went through the list and picked one I liked. Eylúðr, which translates to "The Ever Booming." A lot of his names had to do with yelling, apparently.

Oh, look. Obvious name is obvious.

Hermes; mercurial_punk ► in the vein of obvious names being obvious, I chose 'mercurial' because it means 'fickle' and 'being like Mercury', and Mercury is the Roman rip-off of the much more awesome Hermes. Punk is, well, because basically that's what he is.

Cassandra || andofthefuture: I made this account a looong time ago, and the inspiration is not exciting at all. Cassandra tells the future. And I like usernames that start with "and."

Mary Magdalene || findaheaven: From the song "Mary Magdalen" by Magdalen Hsu-Li. She could find a heaven in the hell that life can bring. Made during my current kick of let's-make-usernames-with-lyrics!

Aphrodite's venusingucci is plenty obvious. Venus is her Roman name, and, being a fashionista, she probably has plenty of Gucci label clothing in her wardrobe. It's also a slight nod to the song "Venus in Blue Jeans," but 'Dite would want something classier than denim in her username.

Ariadne gets tangledmaze mostly due to her associations, primarily her role in giving a ball of yarn to Theseus to escape the Labyrinth. But, her history, and the way her mind works, often is a tangled maze in and of itself.

Asclepius goes by ieter_amumon because iêtêr amumôn (roughly translated as "noble healer") is the epithet given to him in the Homeric poems. It is also worth noting that the adjective amumôn is never used with immortal beings in Homeric poetry, so it is also a nod to not only his demigod origins, but the fact that in his modern life he is human once again.

Erato's roseredheart comes from her sphere as a Muse. She was the Muse of lyric love poetry and thusly figured importantly in matters of the heart. Red roses were one of her symbols. Also, I do have that her mortal ( ... )
