So, I suspect grad school has been a huge mistake. My first semester went OK, getting a little panicked at the end about getting a decent research project going. Second semester I fell apart. I always assume that everyone has some crazy ridiculous thing that they'd love to be expert in, but it's just too improbable to actually put any effort into. personally, I wish I could be a contortionist. or maybe a magician, which I might try learning a little, but my hands are too small to palm cards, and I wouldn't be able to 'banter' so much ( Read more... ) -

So I had my first Calculus test on Wednesday. I have no idea how I did. I feel terrible about it. well, I think I did ok, actually... but the teacher's really picky about showing ALL THE WORK THE WAY HE SHOWED IT ON THE BOARD and I think I may have combined steps or something and it's just bothering me. so i'm really more worried that I'm not up ( Read more... ) -

OK, so the other day, Daniel noticed that they were having a blood drive at school today. it's been a while since I donated last (July. september was deferred because of stitches and tetanus shot a couple days beforehand, november was turned away for low iron) so we ate a lot of iron for a couple of days, and went in. I must admit that christmas is bothering me this year. not in the typical way, of frustration with the BUY BUY BUY push, or the endlessly repeating christmas songs (most of which I hold are rather bad songs, and only get played because of the holiday connection) but because I don't GET a real christmas this year. So yesterday, I decided to try to get my school stuff straightened out. drove the 3 hours to charlotte, early in the morning. chased down a change of major form (not in the building the website said it'd be in). chased down an advisor for 'undeclared and transitioning' students, and got what is so far the only real help I've had. which is granted ( Read more... ) -

So today the Darg went to the vet. no big deal, his yearly shots. being the sweet thing he is, he was more curious than anything else when I got out the carrier, and actually got into it of his own free will. good boy at the vets, only cmplained about the indignity of getting his temperature taken (not that he has a lot of dignity to begin with) ( Read more... ) -

goddamit. I hardly watch TV. I've had it on today for background while I'm cleaning though. I have typically only 3 channels I watch... Discovery, Discovery Health, and National Geographic. and tonight, midway through an episode of Monsters Inside Me (PARASITES ARE SO FUCKING COOL!)
