Just go to (or maybe call first to be sure) wherever people go to get 35mm film developed. People frequently leave their canisters and I always was given a huge bag of them when I asked for them for craft projects for the kids when I was teaching and such.
Word of warning though - they have some nasty chemical residues in them, so don't give 'em to kids who will mouth them or mouth their hands after extended touching, and don't keep consumables in them. Or at least, this is how they used to be - I don't know if the chemistry has changed or not.
I was going to suggest Motophoto, Walgreens, Walmart, etc. myself. I know that when Rod & I drop off film, we always keep the exposed film in its cannister. It's something I learned back in the 70's. Does the color matter? It differs by maker. Whatcha goin' to do with them? Inquiring minds want to know.
yup, i go to the photo places to get bags of them, too. btw, if you happen to get the black ones with black lids that are oval instead of round topped and aren't using them, I'm always looking for those and they can be hard to find (i'll tell you what they are for, but it's a secret :)

(And it was used on a Family Guy recently...)
