M-o-o-n... that spells H1N1 virus!

Hello there, campers!

I'm sorry to report that the Muse is still MIA, but thanks to a healthy dose of alcohol, I'm here to post something resembling a blog.

About Swine Flu.

Because I'm paranoid.

And drunk.

And being followed by Randall Flagg on Twitter.

That's right, you heard me correctly.

There is a new phenomenon growing on the interweb's latest ( Read more... )

This is God's way of saying that Factory Farming is a big no no. I wouldn't get too worried. Just check out the death statistics for the normal flu, and you'll feel a little better.

That's what I meant by the 250,000 number, btw... That number is supposed to make us all feel better, right?

I know that the media is hard pressed for things to blow out of proportion now that the economic crisis is old news, but if causing mass panic is going to help make them money, then I'm going to ban the internet....

I really do hate the media. Even while reporting they say things like "we're not trying to panic anyone", but clearly that's what they are doing. Here is an idea, shut up about it, and people will stop panicking. I don't think it's the end of days or anything, though I wouldn't be surprised if the end of days is brought about by a completely man made anomaly like the swine flu.

I totally agree with you... and I will say that the fear mongering media has done a really good job of painting a gloom and doom picture since the beginning of the year, which makes me wonder what they are trying to build the public up for? (or tear them down to make what's coming easier to swallow?)

Everyone can come up to my house. We're practically hermits living on the Mesa anyway. :P

I heard about The Stand on Twitter, but I haven't had the opportunity to look into it yet, and I haven't read the book and I don't know if it's worth trying to follow it now because I'd be jumping in kinda after the fact and oh woes. Always the last to know.

I'm not typically the paranoid type either, but I found myself sitting across from a teenager on the rapid (aka above-ground train/subway thing) who was hacking up a lung, and I thought to myself, "Okay, Lori, don't touch your face, and wash your hands the SECOND you get to work." Usually I'm all like BRING ON THE GERMS, MY IMMUNE SYSTEM NEEDS TO DO SOME PUSH-UPS, but I have to say that I started considering carrying Purell on me. I've seen Outbreak, just like everyone else.

You know, I'm typically all BRING ON THE GERMS myself, and I don't know if it is because of a lack of exposure or the fact that I have a strong immune system because I typically don't get full-blown, out of commission, need a prescription sick.

However, when a flu virus does a nasty thing to your immune system and tricks it into drowning you in your own fluids, that's when I start to get nervous...
