It's getting hot in here

Oct 05, 2005 11:08

Does anyone from these parts ever remember it being this hot in October before? The only days I’ve worn a jacket in the last month are when it was full force tsunami weather. What’s going on? Not that I’m complaining, it just seems to be a little creepy. Global Warming is just some myth created by liberals because they hate our freedom right?

No I don't remember it every being this hot in october before.

I vaguely remember getting snow in may though, several years ago, and this one day (I wanna say in august or september) when it was 92 degrees, it rained, then it hailed, then it was 92 degrees again.

Who the fuck knows. Just keep your head down and wave the flag.

i don't remember it ever being this hot either. the polar ice is melting at a rate of 8% a year. this is a scientific fact, not some liberal windbag brouhaha my friend!

hooray! hotter summers, colder winters! global warming :(

I read that to. The Arctic will be the new Caribbean. Milwaukee will be a spring break destination. I'll get my first tan ever. Maybe even skin cancer! Hooray! Maybe instead of winter this year we'll have a monsoon season.

I wonder if we can get to the point where summer transitions directly into winter. Like, in a week.

Now where's that pile of styrofoam I've been meaning to burn...

I don't think anyone is disputing that the earth goes through warm and cold periods. And that the earth has been in a cool period in the last few hundred years.
The "myth" or what have you is that "humans" are causing the climate to change, versus the warming and cooling cycles the earth "naturally" goes through.

The southern hemisphere had record lows last year. Closer to home, we had the coldest November ever here in 2000 and coldest January ever in 2001.

Global Warming is just some myth created by liberals because they hate our freedom right?
Actually it's a scam to rip off taxpayers. They aim to create a taxable market for carbon emissions that supposedly create "global warming".

Did the liberals create the o-zone hole so they could have an imaginary friend?

No. That's legit. It was a naturally-occuring phenomenon excacerbated by human emissions of freon. But yet again, even though this (unlike global warming) is legit, I think there was a great over-reaction to it. Did we as a society weigh the costs of treating a small increase in skin cancer in the far, far souhthern latitudes VS the cost of changing every aerosol and air conditioning system everywhere? Or did we just act emotionally and needlessly waste a ton of money?

It seems either way you look at it we are dealing wiht extremes. So in your opinion are CFC's good for the enviornment? In a couple of years will they just fall back to the earth an revert back in to oil and coal?
