There was a bit of space just under the window (where the third seat was for other rows) so Pete could stretch out and get vaguely comfortable."
We got those seats on BA coming back from JFK! I was going to recommend them to you - good call.
Also, Wetherspoons before flights are ace. I had my first Wetherbreakfast the other day which was exciting.

Er, I do this every 5 minutes of the whole flight.
The hostel thing sounds a nightmare :( I can't imagine doing all that on your first day, with the time zone etc. Americans are nice though.
