Someone at work sent me some funny animal pictures today, and some of them were owls. Like pandas and penguins, owls make for good icons, I think... so I made these three, just for fun.
My two-pound sledgehammer arrived in the post today, so I tried to do more stamping of my copper squares. No joy. So it occurred to me that perhaps they needed to be annealed. Not having a butane torch or a kiln, I improvised with narrow metal tongs (I think they were faux chopsticks or something like that) and my gas stovetop. Heat, heat, heat, drop in pyrex container of water - instant black - scrub scrub scrub with steel wool, scrub some more (and pricked my fingers ouch), and tried again with stamps and sledgehammer. It worked! So I have a copper square all textured with shooting stars, and coloured in lavender and black. I'll hopefully put the clear embossing powder on it tomorrow. And then you will see.
Ooh, ooh, this sounds beautiful and yay successful experimentation! Awaiting photos. Very glad that the heating did not involve any burnt fingers or kitchen curtains aflame!
Last night I had a photo all picked out for today. Today, I leafed through my folder to see if I had any paper the right size already in there and passed the extra copy of the plain pencil sketch of the stonework. I was overcome by an urge to colour those berry/seed-like bits deep blue. I tried to ignore, but it wouldn't go away. So...for the third day in a row, you have the same design, but now with different colours.

I always seem to burn my fingers on hot glue. I need a silicon thimble or something like that.
