Japan photos, Part 1: Random

Jul 24, 2007 14:35

I noticed I wrote pretty much all we did on our first day in Tokyo already in an earlier entry so there's no need to repeat it. I'm just going to post random photos related to our first day. The photos are kinda small, but you can view a bit bigger ones if you click the image.

A toilet seat, probably found from the Narita airport. See the funny buttons on the left side.

A close-up of the buttons. You could wash your rear or front with them after doing your business or you could have the toilet make a flushing sound to cover up the noises you make. I didn't try them. :D Should have, at least once. Oh well.

Random people in a train. I wonder if we're on a Yamanote line train already... Can't remember. They all look the same anyway.

A close-up of the ads hanging from the ceiling.

This is the entrance to the ryokan (inn) we stayed at in Tokyo, the Tama ryokan. It was near the Takadanobaba station at the Yamanote train line. A very good location, I think, and it wasn't expensive either. The sign is behind the Creative Salon thingy.

We went to see a shrine near the Waseda University. Our friend (who just returned to Finland) studied there for a year and he showed us around a bit for the fist couple of days. You are supposed to wash your hands here before praying.

The actual shrine where you pray.

A close-up of an inari statue.

I could've posted a few more photos but the trouble is, they include people and their faces and I don't know if they'd like for me to show them. Also, can't put too many photos in one entry. I think I'll post photos of Shinjuku next.
