Canon similarities between House/Cameron and Grissom/Sara

Apr 02, 2008 19:30

I am now finished with CSI season 4 and I can't help seeing the obvious similarities between canon developments for these two pairings. The timeline fits well, seasons 1-4.

This is about canon events, speculations about characters, motivation and the writing is a topic for a different, longer discussion. I am aware of what happens in CSI season 6-8 ( Read more... )

You know, it's funny you should mention the similarities, because it's something I've found myself wondering about in the past. At first, the only similarity you see is the older man/younger woman combination - mostly due to the differences in the characters. Drastic differences. But I think you could very well be right. When you put them side-by-side like that it does make sense.

One of the things I appreciate about the House/Cameron scenario is how subtle-but-intense everything is. With every scene they have together, there is an undertone of something that's hard to define, other than to call it chemistry.

I would hesitate to call Grissom/Sara my OTP, but it doesn't make me gag, either. (Always a plus! *LOL*)

It would certainly be nice if TPTB were really planning things out that way, but judging from comments DS and KJ have made, it sounds like no one really knows what they're doing. *clings to optimism*

You are very right about the chemistry. House/Cam (HL/JMo) had it from the start. For Sara/Grissom it came in much later and the sexual tension was present in fewer scenes, but the way their romance was written was very similar to House/Cam. It was played differently- yes, but it seems written similarly ( ... )

what if they don't know what they are doing in the Short run? but what if in terms of the general Long term storyline, they already know who they wanted to pair House up from the start? or they knew from the start for example that they want him to end up alone? I think that since House is THE main character, they might have planned his final destiny from the start.

this is what came up when my sister and i were discussing H/C. we believe that DS has already had in his mind who he wanted House to be with. and all of these will lead to that...
glad to see someone else agree with us :)))

That's definitely a good point - one that I hadn't considered!

To be honest, I'm not a Grissom/Sara fan (I just never really liked Sara, I guess). I always thought I would ship GSR but had never really watched CSI all that much. Anyway, I saw Grissom/Catherine interaction and totally thought she was Sara (as ridicules as that sounds, lol) and actually read some GSR fanfic while thinking Catherine was Sara. I watched a little more of the show and starting shipping Catherine/Grissom (Grillows, if you will).

The parallels do sound convincing though (though how GSR ended up with Sara leaving the show makes me a little nervous about House/Cam). Nice write up :-)

"though how GSR ended up with Sara leaving the show makes me a little nervous about House/Cam"

I don't if you read like general spoilers for CSI. Do you?

Interesting, ha? Grissom/Catherine interections are definitely snappier and livelier, but to me they seem more like House/Cuddy, friends with history I guess. )

If House and Cameron ever get together in an offscreen capacity, I will kick. someone's. ass.

But other than that, I've thought this before too. The parallels are defintely there. I think the diversion with Cuddy was inevitable but they'll get back to House and Cameron eventually. I still can't decide if they will end up together or not though, but I think in terms of the storyline, they both really do need to get that relationship out of their system (heh, sorry, I was just thinking about this the other day and your post brought it up again). Whether or not they end up together, it does need to happen. Although please, don't end up like CSI! That episode killed me a little inside.

I am not spoiled as to what exactly happens in The episode, but I've heard that they do plan on bringing Sara back.

About them getting together off screen--no way! Wasn't that just cruel with GSR? Heck. I think they were too scared of fans raving how their hook up would "spoil the show."

Yeah, I guess Huddy sex is inevitable after last half of season 3. grrr...House/Cam is the ultimate though; end up/not end up is up in the air, but I want them to at least have a chance, you know?

I remember episodes on CSI with just a little bit of Sara too. She wasn't quite so removed but still. It made me look forward to her scenes more.

Cam might come back in the loop, but you are right I don't trust TPTB. And yeah, I've read that Sara will "almost definitely" come back while Grissom won't be "moving on" which makes me happy )

As an optimist Hameron, I agree with you completely!
I, too, believe that TPTB only uses Huddy as an in-betweener. I believe that every storyline will lead to a House/Cameron canon. Even 13's presence. I have once analysed this in my journal, maybe you can check it out and tell me what you think? http://mabe85.livejournal.com/581.html

I think HOUSE has the best writers on television. I believe, deep, in their mind, they have crafted a story for House and Cameron. Because House/Cameron is the only pairing that makes sense as a "true love, serious" development.

House's "Cameron thinks of dirt when she thinks of me" speaks for itself.
i never thought of that! thanks for bringing this up! :)))

"believe, deep, in their mind, they have crafted a story for House and Cameron."

haha...very deep indeed )) hope not, I just don't think they are worrying about House's ultimate destination at this particular point. They just want to fill the seasons and make interesting. But we will prevail!

It started with House/Cam in season 1. It will end with House/Cam in season #X. (unless the JMo leaves like JF, which would suck )
