Title: Mistletoe
'Verse: The Effect
Pairing: Graham/Elijah
Rating: slash - soft
Author's Note: Just a little Christmas present for guiltycross. It's depressingly short and simple, but I had to pump it out really fast!

Graham and Elijah sat curled in front of the fireplace, sipping the remains of their hot cocoa and listening to Josh Groban. Final exams were finished, and they were celebrating the end of the semester and the holiday season.

"I miss the play," Graham told him. "I became so accustomed to working on it every night. It feels strange not having it anymore."

Elijah smiled at him. "I feel the same way. It's always a little lonely after the closing performance of a play." He sipped his cocoa. "Will you be working on the spring play?" he asked casually.

"I think so, I would like to. I wasn't sure what it would be like when I first signed up for the class, but I really enjoyed it. Will you be acting again?" Graham looked over at him hopefully.

"I'll be auditioning again," Elijah said, ever modest.

"Then you'll be acting again," Graham told him with a smile.

Elijah smiled back. "Will you audition?"

"Oh! No," he said hastily. "No, no, I couldn't. I can't act."

"Have you ever tried?" Elijah asked.

"No," he admitted.

"Then you don't know if you can act or not. Acting is a skill that can be acquired. You should take intro to acting in the spring. It's a great class," he urged him.

Graham shook his head. "I don't think I can. I admire you for being able to do it, Elijah, but I know I just don't have it in me."

The pretty blonde placed his hand on Graham's arm. "You don't have enough faith in yourself."

"I have plenty of faith in what I can do, Elijah. I just know my limits. Anyway, I enjoy working backstage." Graham smiled adorably at him, and Elijah lost the argument there.

They sat idly chatting for another half hour or so, about nothing in particular, just enjoying the sound of one another's voices and the warmth of the firelight. When eleven o'clock came around, Elijah yawned and looked at his watch.

"I really should be going. Thank you for having me over, Graham. I enjoyed spending time with you," he told him warmly.

Graham stood up. "Thank you for coming over! It was fun."

"We should do it again," Elijah suggested tentatively.

He beamed at him. "Absolutely. Just tell me when."

"Are you free next Thursday?"

Graham looked temporarily shocked. He hadn't expected Elijah to want to see him again so soon. "I-Yes. Yes, I think so. I am."

"Great. You can come over to my apartment, maybe. It's only fair. I don't want to impose on Ethan anymore."

"It's no imposition. We like having you here. But I don't mind going over to your place. What time should I stop by?" he asked, going to fetch Elijah's coat and scarf for him.

"Whenever you wish. Just call ahead of time." His eyes lit up. "We could go skating."

Graham laughed. "I don't know how to skate!"

"Then I'll just have to teach you," Elijah told him with a pretty smile. Graham gave in immediately.

Elijah pulled on his coat and wrapped his scarf around his neck. Graham pulled the door open for him and they stepped out onto the porch.

"I'll see you on Thursday then. Have a Merry Christmas, Elijah."

The blonde looked up briefly and smiled shyly. He leaned in, and before Graham knew what was happening, planted a soft kiss on Graham's cheek. "Mistletoe," he explained, gesturing up. "Merry Christmas, Graham."

He watched him leave, his cheeks bright pink, and unusually warm despite standing outside without a coat. Then he hurried inside, closing the door behind him, and pressed his hand to his cheek. Ethan, walking by, gave him a curious look.

"Graham, are you all right?"

He jerked up to attention. "Just fine, Ethan!" he said quickly, flashing him a smile. "Just perfect."
