We're not really sure what goes on in the room next door to where my class meets. It's maybe some kind of communications class - they seem to clap a lot. Also, they watch lots of old movies. There's a connecting door between the rooms, so slightly loud things are pretty audible ( Read more... )

I'm finishing up a draft of the introduction. I'm pretty uninspired and freaking tired of writing, and am also worried that I'm getting sick. I need to stay fairly chipper and keep plugging away.

Clearly, I need...Astronaughty! (ooo-ooo-ooo-ooooo, space battle!) Used sparingly, it produces instant happiness every time :-)

After too many (inconsequential but) frustrating things had already happened by 9:30 this morning, I spent 15 minutes in the department office sorting out a big pile of paper clips of various sizes. So very soothing.

But today, comparing coverage of (well, okay, mentions of) a Carleton kid's trip to the Colosseum, Us Weekly and something called Mollygood get to the point rather more directly and entertainingly than the otherwise respectable New York Times.

Just had a highly dramatic moment with a stubborn new cereal bag. Pull...pull...pull...raining cereal! Luckily, they were puffins rather than grape nuts. Also luckily, none seem to have landed in my tea.
