in this particular case I am referring to hearing from my Mom, who had a routine appointment with her heart dr. this am. She tells me the appointment "did not go well" and she has surgery on Monday. I am grading again. Papers papers papers  - I love it and it requires sustained focus to read, react, provide meaningful feedback while challenging them to delve further in the subject
so every now and then I need to take a time out or the quality of my response to them drops -
