What a beautiful (and timely) story. I can imagine House being fascinated. Great of you to show us a moment where he and his father could share something, and of course Wilson would "remember" the problem with his brother.

My husband told me how excited he was, and how his family allowed him to stay up late to watch: I was two and I do not remember the landing. I bet I had pizza before that, my kids all wanted a taste as soon as they had teeth!

I lived in a little town in the midwest. Heck, I never had a bagel until I went to college. Imagine my shock when visiting my hometown to find that the grocery store now sells sushi (prepared in the regional big town, but still ...)

This is great. I love House's memories here ... You paint a very believable scene of how his experience viewing the moon landing could have played out (in my inexpert opinion, since I know nothing about Marines, and wasn't alive for the landing!)

Like others have said, the last line was so very House. It reminded me of the episode (I believe "The Social Contract") where Wilson told House something like, "If I offered you a comforting lie, you'd hit me over the head with it." House does value truth.

Oops, forgot to say thank you for the comment. My mother would be very disappointed in me. And I love playing around with House's boyhood memories. Mostly because he'd hate it.

I remember sitting in my grandmother's living room watching it with her...she had made me take a nap before she let me stay up to watch. She had been born only a couple of years after the Wright Brothers flew for the first time...and live to watch men walk on the moon.

:-) Thank you for sharing this. I'm not old enough to have seen the moon landing, but I've got very fond memories of having visited the Air & Space museum (so I almost felt like I was there with them). Very true to House.
