So I was coming home from Kouji's birthday party at Sama Sama taking route 305 along the coast. I was going a bit fast, and a car in the other lane came up and I was like "oh shit that's a cop car!" so I slowed down. If you could establish that you weren't trying to evade the cops, you should be fine. Say that any lights you saw you didn't know were intended for you. For all they know, you were on your way home, to a friend's house, whatever . . . unless they can prove you were actively trying to evade them, they don't have a case.

I did that earlier this year too, actually. I didn't get caught.

If all else fails you can say you pulled over ASAP because you felt very tired and you needed to take a nap before you could make it home. That sounds reasonable.
