I had two gum grafts performed on Monday.  A gum graft is a minor periodontal procedure in which gum tissue is transferred from the roof of your mouth to cover the exposed roots of some of your teeth.  My dentist had been warning me for some time that I would need gum grafts.  It's genetic.  I've flossed twice a day since I was sixteen.  But lo, ( Read more... )

Ouch!
I had one of those done when I was 15 and it was awful. I couldn't eat straighforwardly for 10 days, I had to shove soft food to the back of my mouth.
If it's any consolation, the scar if pretty badass. Did you get the fun part of watching the white, bloodless tissue on your gum slowly becoming integrated with the gum and getting pinker and pinker? It's gross, but I like that part.
One more tip: if your mouth starts bleeding at random (I remember this happening several times in English class): tea bags with clot it. It does not clot on its own, but then again, you'll have dry tea bags in your mouth if you want to fix it. Ich.
Feel better!

10 days! Oh, man. Yesterday, it took me 4 and a half hours to eat a pudding cup b/c the roof of my mouth was so sore. I feel that I didn't appreciate it as much as one should appreciate a pudding cup, really. But as long as I can eat normally for Thanksgiving, I guess I'll be okay. And I am kind of looking forward to the scar.
