Lovely Dawn, Angel interaction harking back to Blood Kin, please let me have got the right title for once, when she was determined to get Angel to laugh. Lots more stuff there as well of course, Angel on Spike, Mike, Connor, found the Darla revelation interesting too. (Glad that you explained the Fudo, Dawn avatar bit for the thick ie me, cos I was impressed by Dawn sounding like the lady and got that but hadn't quite made the full connection.) Also liked the bits and pieces, Dawn nicking Buffy's clothes, chuffed about having grown. Also your take on vamps and food, best one I think I've read:) Jane
The Bit's growin' up despite herself.rhondacMay 15 2005, 12:09:08 UTC
I found Dawn's behavior to be "Ladylike" also...or, perhaps "more grown up than usual" would be more accurate. Since she's always been a bit obtuse about sex, her frank and dead-on discussion with Angel to be a bit out of character (unless this is a first step in her accepting her own sexuality). Her subsequent discussion with Spike over his concerns was similar
( ... )
The power was out--it isn't, anymore. And re Angel not recalling turning Mike, it's not because he doesn't remember--it's because Angelus didn't give a damn. I'll think if I need to clarify this.
I disagree a bit about Dawn's awareness of sex. She doesn't feel the feelings, but she's in no doubt it exists, and she's aware that Mike is having sex with Sue and is angry and disturbed about it. She's not at all shy about saying so...particularly to Angel, a relative stranger, just as Angel will tell her things about Connor (and, implicitly, himself) he's never said before to anybody. Their distance, yet connection, gives them an unaccustomed freedom.
And regarding Spike, he's already spelled out the terms of his concern--Dawn is only responding, in indirect language, to a subject he's already broached. I think I'll leave this as it is. If there's no delicate way to do it, Dawn has no hesitation about calling a spade a spade. Of the three of them, she's the realist.
Okay...I'd forgotten the power had come back on. Sorry.
I agree that Dawn is the realist in these scenarios, and that she is using Spike's own words to tell Spike he probably didn't have to worry about that particular problem. (Loved his response, btw). But I do still think that in these two scenes she "feels" more grown up. Not saying that's bad, just pointing it out.
And, about Angelus not remembering turning Mike, okay...I can see him not remembering because he just flat didn't care.

I'll see if I can clarify. There's the bandages/sheeting, then the blanket. And Angel has laid his leather coat over the blanket to help hold in the heat. I guess the wording is confusing--I'll try to fix it. Thanks for mentioning the problem. I don't want a reader to have to stop and puzzle over this.

"She found Mike covered with the electric blanket but with what she at first took for Spike’s duster laid over, covering him from neck to knees"
What is on top then? I thought there was Mike, then bedsheets (with daisies), then electric blanket?
No big, but it just pulled me up short, that's all.
